Young
Offender Reentry Program: SAMHSA/CSAT
announces the availability of Fiscal Year 2004 grants to expand and/or enhance
substance abuse treatment and related reentry services in agencies currently
providing supervision of and services to sentenced juvenile and young
adult offenders returning to the community from incarceration for criminal/juvenile
offenses. Applicants are expected to form stakeholder partnerships
that will plan, develop and provide community-based substance abuse treatment
and related reentry services for the targeted populations. Because reentry
transition must begin in the correctional or juvenile facility before release,
funding may be used for limited activities in institutional correctional
settings in addition to the expected community-based services. Deadline: June
15, 2004
Drug-Free
Communities Support Program: The Drug-Free Communities Support Program
aims to reduce substance abuse among youth; help community coalitions
strengthen collaboration; enhance intergovernmental collaboration, cooperation,
and coordination; enable communities to conduct data-driven, research-based
prevention planning; and provide communities with technical assistance,
guidance, and financial support. Approximately 180 grants of up to $100,000
will be made available through a competitive grant process in fiscal
year 2004.
